Every season I get asked what's actually going to be everywhere versus what's a five-minute trend. Here's what I'm genuinely packing in my kit this summer — for clients and for myself.
1. Statement Claw Clips
Claw clips aren't going anywhere — if anything they've become the fastest way to look put-together in the heat. This summer it's about colour and finish: tortoiseshell is still a staple, but I'm seeing a lot more bold, glossy colour on set. Our Hero Clip range covers both ends of that — classic tones like Mocha and Merlot alongside bolder shades like Deep Ivy and Navy Silk.
2. The Flower Clip Comeback
Florals in hair accessories have properly returned, and not in a twee way — done right, a flower clip reads elegant, not costume-y. I've been using our limited-edition Triple Flower Clips on shoots all season — Cloud Nine and Paradise especially photograph beautifully in golden hour light.
3. Pearl and Embellished Details
Fine-jewellery-inspired hair pieces are having a real moment — pearls, crystal accents, anything that elevates a simple clip into something you'd wear to an evening event, not just the beach.
4. Anti-Snag, Actually-Strong Hinges
This one's less "trend" and more overdue correction — people are done buying accessories that snap or dent hair. Strong hinge construction and anti-snag teeth are becoming a real purchase driver, not just a nice-to-have.
5. The Right Brush for Second-Day Styling
Good accessories only look good on well-prepped hair. A detangling brush that glides without snapping strands — like our Hero Hairbrush — makes every one of the above look ten times better.
My kit this summer
If I had to pack light: one strong everyday clip, one statement flower clip for evenings, and a decent brush. That's genuinely most of what's in my own kit right now, and it's the whole idea behind the Loxx Summer Collection.
